"Taw Valley" to visit the Bluebell Railway


The Bluebell Railway is having a visiting locomotive coming all the way from Worcestershire!

A Southern Railway express steam locomotive called "Taw Valley" built at Brighton in 1946 will be visiting the Sussex steam railway for 4 weekends only

Normally based at the Severn Valley Railway, the engine is taking part in the Bluebell's "Giants of Steam" event held over the weekend of 26th & 27th October when it will join 4 other "giant" steam locomotives operating a special service

In addition this special weekend will have many other attractions including:

  • Behind the scenes tours of the railway's carriage workshop
  • A special exhibition of former railway artist Terrance Cuneo's work
  • Vintage Steam Lorries on display
  • Saturday evening steam trains after dark with the John Roberts Jazz Band playing in the station bar
  • And on Sunday only, a free vintage bus service from Brighton and Lewes
